PERU - UTCUBAMBA - FLOR DE SELVA

Peru has 24 regions. The province of Utcubamba is one of the seven provinces that make up the Amazonas department in northeastern Peru. It is bordered to the north by the province of Bagua and the province of Condorcanqui, to the east by the province of Bongará, to the south by the province of Luya and to the west by the department of Cajamarca. This land is home to a very rich ecosystem, jungles "the Yungas" and a tropical rainforest which makes up 70% of the territory which extends from Ecuador to the summit of the Cordillera del Condor. The roads are winding and few in number, which adds a little spice when transporting our beloved green coffees. The fauna and flora are rich: hummingbird, puma, opossum, armadillo, monkey, catfish, etc. Unfortunately, this area of ​​the Amazon is facing deforestation. The tree species present such as mahogany and cedar are highly coveted. Encouraging shaded production and preserving forest areas are a priority to protect this unique area.
