Located between 900 and 1500 meters above sea level in the south of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, the Mantiqueira de Minas region has a centuries-old tradition in coffee growing. Its climate and environment create a unique terroir favorable to the production of specialty coffees.
In early 2000 the cooperative began the work of geographical designation, seeking recognition and appreciation of the region for the high quality of coffee produced. In June 2020, the region was recognized as a Denomination of Origin, confirming that these coffees have unique characteristics, linked to natural and human factors.
Composed of 25 municipalities, the region has 8,095 producers, 82% of which are small producers, with a total of 57,000 hectares, with an average annual production of 137,000 bags of 60 kg.
The cultivation of coffee in the Mantiqueira de Minas region is both traditional and modern: innovating and evolving production methods while respecting their ancestors and their territory.
