ORIGINE

This coffee is produced in the Planadas region, in the heart of Tolima, by more than 240 families from the Nasa We'sx indigenous community. These producers grow their coffee on protected land, rich in biodiversity, where there are more than 6,000 trees per hectare. Each family cultivates between 2 and 4 hectares, respecting their territory, their traditions, and the environment.*

The soils of Planadas and Gaitania, located between 1700 and 2000 meters above sea level, offer ideal conditions for growing arabica. The present varieties – Caturra rouge, Colombia, Castillo, Typica – are harvested by hand between May and July, then naturally dried under greenhouses, ensuring a high-quality to the cup.

This coffee embodies the commitment of indigenous peoples for resilient agriculture, respectful of nature and ancestral know-how.

PROCESS

This coffee was decaffeinated in Colombia, at the Decaf factory in Manizales, according to the Sugar Cane Decaf process (or SC Decaf). This natural method uses ethyl acetate from sugar cane to extract caffeine, while preserving the aromas of the grain. It is one of the few low-impact decaffeination methods, which allows us to preserve a sweet and aromatic cup without chemical residue.

Before its decaffeination, this batch was certified organic. However, as the sugar cane used to produce ethyl acetate is not so, certification cannot be maintained after treatment. Laboratory analyses have however confirmed the total absence of pesticides, ensuring a clean and healthy cup.
