Our partnership in Brazil with the cooperative Cocarive
For several years, Volt Café Brûlerie has been committed to the Regional Cooperative of Coffee Producers of Vale do Rio Verde (Cocarive), located in the region of Mantiqueira de Minas, Brazil. This partnership reflects our common values: support for producers, innovation in agricultural practices, and commitment to sustainable production.
Cocarive: A Cooperative at the Service of Producers
Founded in 1961, Cocarive now has 661 members to promote quality coffees and improve the living conditions of producers. Located in Carmo de Minas, in the region of Mantiqueira de Minas, the cooperative benefits from a unique terroir thanks to:
- Fertile soils are an ideal climate for coffee cultivation.
- Biodiversity is preserved, promoting responsible agricultural practices.
Cocarive has invested in modern infrastructures, such as a warehouse equipped with advanced sorting and processing systems, to ensure optimal quality for each batch produced. In addition, the cooperative offers technical support to its members, strengthening their know-how and ability to meet the requirements of specialty coffee shops.
At Volt, we value this cooperative model that combines tradition, innovation, and solidarity.
Fazenda do Engenho: A Historic Partner Farm
Thanks to Cocarive, we have the opportunity to work with remarkable farms like the Fazenda do Engenho, located in Carmo de Minas. Owned by José Victor Bernardes and Maria Célia Chaib Sousa Bernardes, this family farm perpetuates a coffee tradition that dates back to the 1930s.
Since the 1990s, José Victor has modernized the farm by introducing varieties such as Catuaí Yellow and Acaia, while implementing innovative infrastructures:
Paved patios and dryers for precise grain processing.
Advanced sorting systems to ensure traceability and quality.
La Fazenda do Engenho is also one of the producers that has obtained the geographical indication label Mantiqueira de Minas, an official recognition of the origin and excellence of its coffees. By collaborating with this farm, Volt Café participates in the enhancement of this family heritage and the preservation of a unique know-how.
Our Dark Roast embodies the essence of our partnership with Cocarive. This blend is made up of several farms that are members of the cooperative, united by a common vision: to improve production conditions while optimizing the quality of the final product.
The collective work within Cocarive allows producers to access modern infrastructures, such as a centralized warehouse, to process and valorize their crops. This cooperative model not only strengthens their competitiveness, but also ensures mutual support and fair remuneration.
