Located between 900 and 1500 meters above sea level in the south of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, the Mantiqueira de Minas region has a centuries-old tradition in coffee agriculture. Its climate and environment create a unique terroir favorable to the production of specialty coffees.

In early 2000, geographical indication work began, seeking recognition and appreciation in the region for the high quality of the coffee produced. In June 2020, the region was recognized as an "Appellation d'Origine" by the National Institute of Industrial Property - INPI, confirming that these coffees have unique characteristics, linked to natural and human factors.

Made up of 25 municipalities and 57,000 hectares, the region has 8,095 producers, 82% of whom are small producers. The average annual production amounts to 1,370,000 60 kg bags.

The coffee culture in the Mantiqueira de Minas region is both traditional and modern : innovate and develop production methods while respecting their ancestors and territories.
